Spiritual Direction

What is it about?

Spiritual Direction is all about growing in awareness of God’s movement in your everyday life.  Jesus said, “My Father is always at work to this very day, and I too am working” (John 5:17).  If God is always at work, why is it that sometimes we notice and sometimes we don’t?  Spiritual direction is about increasing your capacity to notice and respond.

How does it function?

Meeting with a Spiritual Director typically occurs once a month for one hour where attentive listening, compassionate response and engaging questions invite you to reflect and notice the ways God is at work in and through your everyday life.

What is a “spiritual director”?

A Spiritual Director can be thought of as a spiritual companion or spiritual guide, someone who accompanies you on your journey.  They are uniquely and rigorously trained to stay out of the way, not impose what they think you should do or give you answers.  Rather, they create space to help you discover how God is working through what is happening in your life and assist you in responding to it.
